Donation shouldn’t be complicated, so we make it easy to act. One donor can save up to 8 lives with their organs, restore sight for 2 people with their corneas, and heal up to 75 others with their tissue.
Through education, events, and storytelling, this project aims to remind communities that one person’s choice can become another’s second chance.
Originally from England and now based in Los Angeles, Harriet Leibowitz is a UCLA graduate and former heart and liver transplant researcher at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. As a certified medical assistant and current medical school applicant, she’s committed to expanding access to transplant care and strengthening donor advocacy. Her work is driven by a passion for improving long-term outcomes for patients and building a community where organ donation can save more lives.

“I've stood in the operating room watching a donor heart begin to beat again inside a recipient’s chest. I've also stood at the bedside of patients who never received that call in time.
In California alone, there are currently more than 23,000 people on the transplant list. Although nearly 95% of Americans support organ donation, only about 58% are registered donors.
I realized that the gap isn’t about unwillingness; most people just haven’t been asked, forgot, or don’t know how to register.
That’s why I started 8275 Project.”
